This ultra-rare deck is the high-end Japanese fore-runner of the mass-production Technics SL-1200 mk2. It has been lovingly restored to near-mint condition. It has its original factory installed arm. The mk1 was used by pioneers of hip hop, and was installed in many studios. Its use by Def Jam etc prompted Technics to release the stripped down, lighter mk2 to the mass consumer and DJ markets. In comparison to the Mk2 it has superior resonance damping via four huge individually damped feet and a composite alloy/rubber sandwiched chassis. It weighs a ton! Comparing it to my girlfriend's mk2 it has superior timing and lovely deep bass response. Supplied with a stanton 680 cartridge, its ready to play. I've had a Dynavector 10x5 on it, and the result was incredible.... oodles of tight bass and detailed, liquid midband. A true audiophile deck, as intended by Technics. Local pick-up only as extremely heavy and delicate. All questions answered!
